MotorEx Cruise for Charity, NSW was an absolute cracking grand finale to record-breaking 2015 season – well done one and all! Thanks to the 962 official participants that rolled into Sydney Dragway, along with several other fundraising activities on the day, Sydney raised a total of $39,522.50. This great result pushed the overall 2015 to the highest ever yearly total in Cruise for Charity’s 12-year history – whoo hoo!

Unlike the pelting rain that greeted 2014’s C4C participants, the skies were crystal clear and the mercury hovered around the 30 Celsius – it was an absolutely glorious day for cruising with your mates and fellow enthusiasts from the modified car community.

Keen participants began queuing outside the Sydney International Regatta Centre meet-point, well before the gates opened at 4:00pm. By the 5:00pm driver’s briefing the Regatta Centre was a veritable sea of interesting and eye-catching machinery with throngs of smitten spectators checking out all of the cool rides.

The honour of lead car out of the Regatta Centre went to Jeremy in his sensational SV88, SCARCE. Following closely behind was Jeremy’s father in his cherished Walkinshaw along with a dozen of Sydney’s toughest VLs.

Within no time of the first car rolling into Sydney Dragway, it too was transformed into a sea of bitchin’ machinery. With little chance for everyone to catch their breath, it was all systems go. The horsepower fanatics began winding up the RPM in the Dynotech Hunt for Horsepower, brought to you by Dyno Dynamics. When the howling from the 13 competitor’s engines fell silent, Paul Seeto sat at the top of the overall leader board with 612.2wrhp from his VE SS (see separate recap for full rundown and class winners).

Not to be left out, the Smashing Tyres brigade wasted no time in sending scores of unsuspecting tyres to a billowy, smokey grave. A passenger ride in each of the 10 burnout beats invited to strut their stuff was auctioned off for charity. Each lucky auction winner got to experience the brain-melting ferocity of a full-on, ten-tenths, tyre-annihilating burnout. Judging by the wide-eye, ear-to-ear grin plastered across each passenger’s face, they certainly got their money’s worth. More so, the Smashing Tyres auctions raised over $4,000 for Camp Quality just on their own! Fantastic effort to everyone who volunteered their passenger seat plus the 10 top bidders.

This is only the second year that the C4C has offered these hard-to-get burnout passenger rides. Already this fresh innovation is growing massively popular – just wait until next year! Having such an appreciative crowd on hand only encouraged the burnout brigade to put on the best show possible, with the fearsome, tyre-frying action going well past 9:30pm – with only the noise curfew bringing proceedings to a halt.

On the quieter side was the fantastic VIP area – another C4C attraction that’s growing year-on-year. The crème of Sydney’s tough streeters, along with a bevy of jaw-dropping show pieces each donated $165 to Camp Quality for a premium spot in the VIP area – it certainly was an amazing array of standout machinery.

In between all this, junior members of the modified car community could fine-tune their future driving skills in the Kiddie Karts. While the grown-ups got to check out all the traders including; Just Cars Insurance, Northern Region (V8 merchandise), Ricks Slot Cars, Whiteline/Nolathane, Lowe Fabrications and the official C4C merchandise stand.

The Sydney round of C4C just gets better and better every year. Next year it’s odds on to beat its 2010 record of 1350 cars and overtake WA (1059 participants in 2015) as the number-two event on the national C4C calendar.

A massive thanks has to go to all of the volunteers that make this (and all other) C4C events possible. The kids and families of Camp Quality are also extremely grateful to C4C’s national sponsors; Meguiar’s MotorEx, Liqui-Moly, Designer Wraps, House of Kolor, Just Car Insurance, Turbosmart, Dyno Dynamics and Lowe Fabrications.

A national 2015 season wrap up will appear on the main C4C website, however stay tuned in early 2016, as were looking to announce a range of exciting updates and features for the 2016 season which kicks off in September. Have a great Christmas and talk with you all in the New Year.
