Just one day after her fifth birthday, Elsa was diagnosed with cancer, turning the celebrations on their head, not only for Elsa but her whole family. Mum Kerry says Elsa’s diagnosis affected the whole family including her sisters, “ They didn’t like seeing Elsa in this condition. She wasn’t the annoying little sister they were used to. Her weight dropped to around 15kg and she was extremely weak, pale and lost all her hair.”

This is where Camp Quality stepped in and helped out. Dad Nathan says: “ The camp provided such a welcome distraction from what she was going through. Despite spending so much time in hospital, many of Elsa’s memories from that period of her life actually revolve around the times she spent with the Camp Quality team.” “Camp Quality also helps to develop support networks between families going through the same thing, which helped us so much.” By hosting a Dine at Mine event this August, you will be helping to raise money for kids, just like Elsa, living with cancer and their families.

Motoractive are proud and continued supporter of Camp Quality.  There are around 10,000 children living with cancer around Australia every year, yet Camp Quality are only able to reach 1 in 3 of these children with their programs nationwide. Camp Quality’s goal is to ensure that every child living with cancer and their family has equal access to Camp Quality programs nationwide so that’s why our ongoing support of this amazing organisation is so vital so they are able to support every child living with cancer in Australia.

This August, we’d love for you to support Camp  Quality by registering to host your own Dine at Mine (dineatmine.org.au) event.  The concept is simple.  We invite you to host a dining event and ask your guests to donate what they would’ve spent on a night out to Camp Quality.  Whether it’s a BBQ after a local football game, dinner with the family, a brunch at work or lunch with friends, you can host a Dine at Mine that works for you.  This August, make it yours! By hosting a Dine at Mine this August, you can help create a better life for children, just like Elsa, living with cancer.

For more information on how you can host your own Dine at Mine event this August,  contact Samantha Tan at Camp Quality on Samantha.tan@campquality.org.au or give her a buzz on 9876 0528 – she’d love to hear from you!
