Horsepower aficionados have been campaigning for a national dyno competition for some years. Thanks to a key collaboration between Dynotech, MotorEx Cruise for Charity and Summernats, this aspiration is now a reality, with the launch of the Dynotech Hunt for Horsepower Heroes. This national competition will run in conjunction with MotorEx Cruise for Charity – which raises much needed funds for Camp Quality. Horsepower fanatics can now push the limits of their vehicles in a safe, controlled environment, all the while supporting sick kids!
To be eligible to battle it out for outright Horsepower Heroes honours at the annual Summernats Horsepower Festival, competitors must qualify via one of the Dynotech Hunt for Horsepower Heroes rounds held at Cruise for Charity Townsville, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
The Dynotech Hunt for Horsepower Heroes will incorporate seven classes in total. With both forced induction and naturally aspirated categories for 8cyl, 6cyl and 4cyl vehicles, along with a stand-alone rotary class. To be eligible, vehicles must be registered and run on pump fuel (exotic fuels are prohibited). Each state’s top contenders, from the each of the seven classes will go through to the ultimate horsepower showdown in Canberra where they’ll vie for a prize pool totalling over $7,000.
Dynotech, MotorEx Cruise for Charity and Summernats are confident this innovative initiative will expand dyno competitions in Australia. They’re also proud to be involved, as the Dynotech Hunt for Horsepower Heroes positively promotes dyno competitions as a legitimate motorsport endeavour. While simultaneously promoting road safety by providing performance enthusiasts a dedicated setting along with the recognition associated with any national competition platform.
More states and more events in each state may be added in the future. With the Dynotech Hunt for Horsepower Heroes scheduled to start with the 2015 Cruise for Charity season, which kicks off in Perth, Sunday, September 20.
