Meguiar’s and its legendary shine is not just for cars. The extensive range of Meguiar’s legendary car care products are perfect for cleaning, renewing and protecting just about any surface on any vehicle, even motorbikes! Due to their complex surface features and numerous exposed elements, keeping a motorbike clean ‘n’ tidy can often be harder than keeping a car looking spic ‘n’ span. However keeping your road rocket looking its best only serves to enhance the enjoyment whenever you head to your favourite strip of black top. Fortunately, Meguiar’s has everything you need for a quick, simple cleaning regime that will keep your machine looking better, for longer.

A select array of Meguiar’s products like these, is all you need clean your vehicle and keep it looking better than new.

BREAKING out the mild degreaser and Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash & Wax is a tried and proven cleaning method. However using high-tech waterless cleaner like Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere offers several advantages. It keeps moisture away from sensitive electronics and you can clean your bike in the comfort of your garage – at your leisure. Ultimate Wash ‘n’ Wax Anywhere is Meguiar’s premier waterless cleaner; you simply spray it on and wipe it off – it’s that easy. The key to its ability to clean without scratching, is in the way the specially-formulated solution encapsulates dirt and grime particles to safely lift them away from the surface.

For painted areas; liberally coat, then lightly wipe over with a microfiber towel, before going over the surface a second time, removing any remaining moisture with a separate, dry microfiber towel. As well as being a very capable cleaner, Ultimate Wash ‘n’ Wax Anywhere also lays down a light, protective wax coating (see paint restoration) and it smells great to boot!

As you can see on this 2007 Ducati Hypermotard 1100s, it’s not just for painted surfaces, it works a treat at cleaning away accumulated crud from almost everywhere. On a motorbike, the tyres are about the only area to avoid, small amounts of overspray is fine, however don’t go drenching the tread.

IF YOU care about surface finish, never us rags for cleaning – unless you like scratching the heck out of it. Microfibre cloths are not only softer, they hold the cleaning product better and their extraordinary fibres pull any abrasive crud away from the surface, trapping it safely out of harm’s way. When moving onto heavily-soiled areas such as the frame, brakes, suspension and wheels, switch to a terry towel, as its longer, coarser fibres hold more grime. Bank on needing more than one cloth to finish very dirty areas.

While microfiber and terry towelling cloths can be rejuvenated by washing, cleaning extremely dirty and oily areas will permanently impair them – best to dedicate a couple of cloths just for the grubby bits. In fact it’s a good idea to have dedicated cloths and applicator pads for each process; that way you’re guaranteed against suffering cross-contamination.

UNLESS diligently cared for since new, most vehicle surfaces are likely to have a plethora of light scratches, swirls and blemishes. Polishing them out will make your paint look like new. (*Note: deep scratches should be left to professional detailers or spray painters). Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound is like re-hab for your paint and is perfect for removing light scratches along with oxidation and water spotting. Application can be via a buffing/polishing machine or by firm hand rubbing, which is perfect for bikes.

After polishing, the next step is to apply a protective wax coating, such as Meguiar’s Ultimate Liquid Wax, Meguiar’s most advanced wax ever! The wax coating not only enhances the shine, it maintains the shine for longer by sealing the surface, along with providing a level of protection against nicks, scratches, stains plus UV and chemical attack (i.e. industrial fallout). Better still, being 100 percent synthetic, Ultimate Liquid Wax does not leave unsightly white residue on trims, plastic mouldings, or in all those impossible to get at areas.

Applying Ultimate Liquid Wax requires a lot less elbow grease than polishing, just be sure to let it completely dry before removing. Depending on how often your bike ventures out, re-wax three to four times a year. And while the wax in Ultimate Wash ‘n’ Wax Anywhere is not a substitute for real wax, it does help keep the protective wax coating topped up between proper re-waxing.

A SLIPPERY seat is a dangerous seat – that’s not to say you can’t clean and protect it. As with many vinyl/leather cleaners, Meguiar’s Cloth & Trim Cleaner will get your seat spotlessly clean and looking like new. What it doesn’t do is leave behind any undesirable oily or greasy residue. It’s also safe for use on plastics (no issues with overspray), however it’s not suitable for suede.

IF YOUR ride rolled off the production line in the last 15 years or so, it no doubt features a plethora of black plastic bits. Using a traditional plastic rejuvenation spray on a motorcycle can be problematic, as you invariably end up with unwanted overspray on areas like paint, clear plastic, leather, glass pedals and seat. Meguiar’s Ultimate Black Trim Sponges are the hot ticket. The product-soaked rectangular sponges are an ideal application tool, allowing you to accurately apply the durable, UV-protecting formula onto the bits you want, without getting it all over the bits you don’t. Better still, it won’t streak the next time you’re caught in the rain.

Keep on top of things (i.e. clean your bike every couple of weeks) and you’ll be able to get your whole machine gleaming like new in as little as 15 to 20 minutes – even less for quick touch ups between major cleans. Let things slide and you’ll need to earmark a bit more quality garage time with your array of premium-quality Meguiar’s products.

Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash ‘n’ Wax Anywhere is ideal for cleaning light to moderately dirty surfaces without the use of water. Spray on liberally and wipe off with a microfiber towel to reveal a clean, shiny finish – it’s that simple!

When using Ultimate Wash ‘n’ Wax Anywhere on the painted bits, have two cloths; a wet wipe off cloth and a secondary, dry wipe-off cloth. The secondary wipe helps to buff the surface and enhance the glossy finish.

As the initial, wet-wipe towel becomes saturated, refold it to expose a clean, dry surface. Work on manageable sections at a time, to avoid the product drying on the surface.

On the dirtier, non-painted parts, use a terry towelling cloth with a single wipe method. You can even use a soft-bristled brush to get into the inaccessible detail areas.

The fibres found in microfiber and terry towelling cloths are brilliant at trapping and holding contaminants, however there is a limit. When they get this dirty, grab a freshie. Cloths can be rejuvenated by washing.

Using a proper applicator pad will cut down polishing time and attain a better result. Firmly grab the back of the applicator (ensuring the surface remains flat) and apply a reasonable amount of pressure – wipe off with a microfiber towel.

Use the supplied applicator (black) to apply Meguiar’s Ultimate Liquid Wax in a swirling, overlapping action. Ensure the wax is completely dry (i.e.: does not smear when you touch it) before removing with the matching (black) microfiber cloth.

To keep your paint looking its best, it should be waxed around three times per year. The beauty of Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash ‘n’ Wax Anywhere is that it maintains that protective wax coating in between re-waxing.

When you get that white foamy action, you know the Meguiar’s Cloth & Trim cleaner is doing its thing. Wipe off with a microfiber cloth for an as-new appearance, without leaving behind a slippery, greasy residue.

New-looking black plastics are only a wipe away with the Meguiar’s Ultimate Black Trim Sponges. They’re ideal for treating the bits you want, without it getting all over the bits you don’t. Wipe off excess with a terry towel.

It’s amazing the difference a good polish and wax makes. The wax coating not only seals the surface, it gives it a level of protection against a host of paint enemies.

Owner of this 2007 Ducati Hypermotard 1100s, Andy Spira, is pretty pleased with the results. And using a wax-infused cleaner, like Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere, will make life easier next time you break out the cleaning gear.
