MAL APPS / 1959 FC HOLDEN / INTREPID-C
2016 Meguiar’s Superstars Qualifier

FROM the instant the covers came off during the FreeStyle Rides Inauguration, 70-year-old Mal Apps’s slick 1959 FC was a crowd favourite, attracting a constant parade of admirers throughout Meguiar’s MotorEx 2015. Finished in gorgeous HOK Oriental Blue and Snow White Pearl, the FC rides on a custom chassis equipped with a Rod-Tech front end and triangulated four-bar rear. This allows INTREPID-C to ride low over its 20×10 and 19×8 billet rolling stock, while remaining fully functional.

Exterior body mods are minimal (shaved door handles, flush fitting door frames and shaved moldings). However the engine bay is another story; the underside of the bonnet has been skinned to wrap around the cross-ram injection atop the nicely-detailed 350 Chev, while smoothed inner guards, firewall and radiator cover panel were all fashioned in steel. Full custom interior features nicely-integrated, ’55 Chev gauge cluster along with a headlining, door trims and floor covering all made from scratch. Mickz Motor Trimming work certainly impressed the MotorEx judges, as INTREPID-C scored Interior Gold Champion award. Mal was quite rightly very excited to also be the inaugural recipient of the Laurie Starling Excellence award.
