Meguiar’s MotorEx is Australia’s most prestigious aftermarket automotive show and never fails to attract a host of big names and celebrities within the automotive scene. MotorEx Sydney 2015 is no exception, with the following line-up of motoring legends set to woo the crowds across the July 25-26 weekend.
We are extremely excited to have George at MotorEx for his very first visit to Australia. George will be interviewed on the main stage on both Saturday and Sunday. We have scheduled 2 one hour signing sessions for Saturday and 2 for Sunday.
George will be signing MotorEx posters. Should you bring any memorabilia such as model cars or clothing etc. there is a $25 CASH signing fee per item. A certificate of authenticity will be supplied together with George’s signature on your item.
Photo opportunities will be based on George and time constraints so he can meet as many people as possible. It is important to understand we can not guarantee all people wishing to meet George will be successful. This will be dependant on the number of people queuing and his pace.
Known as the King of Kustoms, George Barris is a giant in the world of customised cars with numerous major awards and over 100 famous creations to his credit. One of the first of which was at age 23, when his customised ’41 Buick snagged top honours at the 1948 Los Angeles Hot Rod Exposition. This launched a 60-year career of creating a host of iconic customs that have inspired countless other customisers. On top of being a prolific photo/journalist for the huge Peterson Publications empire, Barris took on Hollywood with his creative genius, knocking their socks off with a string of famous machines including the Munster Koach, Drag-U-La, Beverly Hillbillies Jalopy, 60s Batmobile and many, many others. Barris was also customiser to the stars, with Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Elton John, Beach Boys, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley and many others among his celebrity clientele. With Barris about to turn 90, this larger-than-life, living legend’s trip down under to MotorEx Sydney is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that’s not to be missed.
