Everyone who participated in the 2015 season of MotorEx Cruise for Charity should give themselves a much deserved pat on the back. A total of 5461 official participants along with a host of generous spectators raised a staggering $206,195.65 for the needy kids of Camp Quality and their families. Not only is this a new Cruise for Charity record, it’s also the first time in the event’s 12-year history it’s broken $200,000. Well done everyone! This is a great result that you should all feel very proud of.
Victoria maintained its status as the premier event with 2,354 participants. And while New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and Northern Territory all had incredibly strong turnouts, Western Australia was another standout performer, moving past NSW into the number two spot with an impressive 1,059 participants – a big increase on the states previous best.
Another first for 2015 was the introduction of Australia’s only national dyno competition, the Dynotech Hunt for Horsepower. Congratulations to each of the national winners across the seven different categories. Special mention to Townsville Mechanical Services who took out the forced induction eight cylinder class and set a new national record with a blistering 1,363.7rwhp in their immaculate twin-turbo VE shop ute!
Not to be outdone, the smashing tyres burnout demonstrations, plus the huge Tread Cemetery competition in Victoria proved to be a massive hit. The charity auction of once-in-a-lifetime rides in tough burnout beasts produced a series of ear-to-ear smiles on the faces of the lucky winners and raised over $6,000 just on their own.
None of these events would have been possible without the sea of invaluable yet often unappreciated volunteers. Thank you very much too all the Camp Quality, community, club and event volunteers who put their all into making the 2015 season the success it was. MotorEx Cruise for Charity would also like to acknowledge and thank our invaluable sponsors; Meguiar’s, Liqui-Moly, Designer Wraps, House of Kolor, Just Car Insurance, Turbosmart, Dyno Dynamics and Lowe Fabrications for their crucial support.
MotorEx Cruise for Charity is all about gathering like-minded enthusiasts together in a community-supported, family-friendly environment to socialise and raise money for sick kids. For these participants and the thousands of appreciative spectators, cars are much more than just a means of transport. It’s for this reason we’re excited to announce Autobarn as MotorEx Cruise for Charity’s major new national sponsor in 2016.
Not only will the association of one of Australia’s premier automotive retailers enhance the prestige of Australia’s biggest motoring event. Autobarn and MotorEx Cruise for Charity are also a great fit, as Autobarn customers are equally passionate about cars, especially when it comes to maintaining and enhancing them. Cruise for Charity is confident this new joint initiative will prove to be a long-lasting, mutually-beneficial association that will be embraced by the enthusiast community.
