“Wettest C4C NSW in the event’s history,” declared Cruise for Charity, Event Coordinator, Ellie Thorley

Despite Ellie’s accurate description and the forbidding, weeklong forecast that predicted a 100 percent chance of severe thunderstorms and damaging weather conditions, some 632 cars and many more hardy supporters braved the elements for the 2014 NSW Cruise for Charity.

Just as everyone converged late Saturday afternoon, at the Sydney Regatta Centre meet point, the heavens opened and it continued to precipitate for the remainder of the evening.

As Ellie, stated, “Cancer doesn’t take a break for rain, so we neither do we.”

Judging by the considerable number of people at Sydney Dragway (who kindly donated the venue), there were many like-minded supporters. Nary was a complaint heard, in fact everyone was in remarkably high spirits – doing good for people less fortunate than yourself has that effect. That said, a number of people expressed their disappointment in how the rain had put a damper on what was gearing up to be the best and biggest C4C NSW ever!

Nonetheless, a big congratulations to everyone who attended and a bigger congratulations on your valued efforts in raising a very respectable $26,917.20 for Camp Quality. Other 2014 NSW C4C honours went to PRO PSI, who spun up 869.9rwhp to win the dyno comp and to MR VH, who took out Chubby’s Choice. The irrepressible Mick Brasher, Craig Bailey and Cameron Williams went out for the Smashing Tyres burnout demonstration despite the inclement weather – they had a wail of a time. With 2014 being as successful as it was, under such foreboding circumstances, 2015 is set to be an absolute record breaker. Can’t wait!

That’s the last C4C for 2014, stay tuned for the upcoming calendar for 2015.
