Some words from Aran on the piece below…

Haha, I’m loving this one to bits!!! This one is a commission piece for the 2015 Sydney Meguiar’s MotorEx.  This year Mr. George Barris is the special guest at the Meguiar’s MotorEx with ‘Movie Cars’ as the theme.  Most of us know of the original Bat Mobile in the 70’s iconic series BATMAN … but only some of you would know that is was built by Mr. George Barris and his team at Barris Customs.  Knowing this I illustrated George and the Bat Mobile into the theme for this banner design.  It will sit 2.5 metres high and 3 metres wide and reside behind George throughout the 2 day show.  I also incorporated our iconic car from the movie Mad Max – what a great combo!  An inspiration upon an inspiration.  As an added twist I also added the classic demon-possessd black buick from the horror movie ‘The Car’ – this was also designed by George Barris.

So the story behind the design of this banner was that Mr Barris is waiting for the petrol station to open.  He waits patiently with a Road Patrol Officer who suffered a puncture but then notices the garage door open slowly. Amidst the shadows he makes out the hideous fiery glow … then a deep rumble … it’s The CAR!!!  Just then ‘Red Baron’ heckles through the air, in sync with the whirling is the supercharger, leaping off a ramp and into the direction of the possessed vehicle. Red Baron’s mission: Save Barris, get him back to Meguiar’s MotorEx, get hang-out time with Outkast Garage.
