Over the Australia Day long weekend, the Royal Exhibition building in Melbourne played host to the 2014 Victorian Hot Rod Show. This being my first VHRS, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of quality cars on display. The building is also a great backdrop for this style of show and really adds to the atmosphere. I was delighted to see the parade of awesome cars heading towards the outdoor display area of the show on my daily walk to the venue.
The Victorian Hot Rod show plays an integral part in qualifying for Meguiar’s Superstars at MotorEx in Melbourne in 2014. We saw three cars pick up Finalist plates – Kelly Kendall and her 1929 Ford Roadster, Peter & Pat Fritsch with their 1932 Ford Coupe and Gary Scicluna’s 1978 Ford Escort Panelvan. Visitors where treated not only to these great cars but were spoilt with previous Meguiar’s Superstars winner Leisa Chinook’s ‘Psycho’ XF Falcon and legend Peter Fitzpatrick’s 1934 Ford Coupe.
With a great atmosphere inside and outside the building, excellent club displays and the amount of top notch Street Elite cars for all to see, as a car enthusiast I had a great long weekend and will definitely have this show marked on the calendar for 2015.
